Winter in Vancouver

2018/2019

It very much looked like there barely was a winter. But then in February it came. And it was beautiful! Here are some images.

February 10

Vancouver, winter, snow, British Columbia, Canada, downtown, Vancouver Public Library
This was what greeted me on February 1st in the morning. This is the view from our balcony. Hurray, grab the camera, dress warm and go outside to play!

And this photo was taken from the other side of the street. On the left is the Vancouver Public Library and on the right is our building.

Walking home after dinner.
Vancouver, winter, snow, British Columbia, Canada, downtown, Victorian houses
These beautiful Victorian houses are our neighbours. I never get tired looking at them. In the spring the garden is at its peak with all the greenery and the flowering trees. But they look the most magical when it snows.

Vancouver, winter, snow, British Columbia, Canada, Queen Elizabeth Park
On my way to work I drive by Queen Elizabeth Park. My favorite park in Vancouver. I often stop there on my to or from work to take in the quiet and the beauty.

Vancouver, winter, snow, British Columbia, Canada, downtown, Nike, goddess of victory
This is Nike. She is the goddess of victory. It was a gift from the city of Athens for hosting the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. She is my favorite statue in Vancouver.

When I know there’s snow in the forecast, I set the alarm clock early. On that morning I went around town before driving off to work. Snow is rather rare in Vancouver, therefore one has to be with the program.

And a quick stop at Queen Elizabeth Park. Ducks congregating on the frozen pond. They live there year round.

The park is always very quiet in the morning during the week. There’s maybe a few dog walkers, but other than that, this gem is yours to explore and enjoy the calm.
