I’m Home for Christmas

Julie Sullivan

I’m home for Christmas even when far away
All I have to do is reflect on yesterday
Warm memories that bring the holiday alive
So real that in my heart it does thrive.

In my mind’s eye is a Christmas tree aglow
Our house is decked with holly and mistletoe
Red stockings hang in wait from the fireplace
The sound of carolers permeate every space.

Family gathered together and sharing company
Opening presents with sheer surprise and glee
There’s a magic felt by all that is unseen
Also the smell of gingerbread and evergreen
So no matter if I’m home for Christmas or not
I carry its spirit around inside which is a lot.
