Christmas Gifts to Share

Every year there’s a stocking stuffer for both of us under the tree. It’s usually either concert or a hockey game tickets. Shared experiences, spending time together, is the most precious thing you can give to somebody.

I think as you grow older your Christmas list shorter and the things you really want for the holidays can't be bought.

There are countless different activities to share depending on your interests:

Enjoy brunch on a rainy Sunday followed by a visit to a museum or art gallery. Or how about a visit to the cinema?

Do a craft beer or food tour through your own city.

A visit with a loved one to the Christmas market to buy something small for each other.

Visit a workshop together. If you study the local classifieds, you will find an incredible amount of ideas: painting, hand lettering, pottery, cooking, baking, wine class, mixing cocktails, dancing, flowers arranging, sewing, wood working.

Take a day trip by train or the subway if you live in a large city.

The pictures here are from a day trip to Squamish last February. The village is about an hour north of Vancouver. The drive alone is worth it. The road leads along the Howe Sound. On one side the water, on the other the mountains. In all the years here in Vancouver, the beauty of nature I do not get tired of this breathtaking part of the world.

On the suspension bridge was a photoshoot in progress. It looks like it was for evening wear.

Dear Chum,
Cast out every broken glass of your clump
Spill off all those memories in the flame
Foggy air of the winter cloud’s sticky bubble gums
And it’s your target you’ve to claim
Cheer up; this 2020 is gonna fly to hell
Let’s celebrate Christmas out of colourful bells
I wanna catch my teachers as on normal days
Every chit chat in part of my schoolmates
Would you relish a party on New Year’s Eve
Make it a bit after; Grow and celebrate
Recall the coolness you felt from your collar ‘n sleeve
The previous dawn you sat with your bags to decorate
Is that whip hand to the rolling time?
Forsooth I got fluffy cups of coffee in quarantine
But the solitude trice aren’t ours
In light years we route out the letters of stars
So soon our shtick will flatten and shine
Sweetly capture it, O friends of mine

Truly, Ariana Ganguly

Spending time together can also be available for free or for little money. Walks are free and healthy. And maybe you can enjoy coffee and cake somewhere in a cozy cafe.

Enjoying a movie at home does not cost anything extra. You can serve something small like coffee, tea, or juice with cake. Rediscover your neighborhood together with the camera and mobile phone.
