Advent Calendar

A Touch of Canada – Buffalo Plaid Advent Calendar

November Rain, Vancouver

This Christmas countdown was sewn on a rainy Saturday in November. It was the perfect weather to stay at home. It is worth the time as the bags can be reused for many years to come. You can also make a set each for your partner and yourself. You each fill 24 bags for the other half. In that case two different fleece or tag colours would be helpful.

Cut 24 rectangles of fleece as shown on illustration, or whatever suits your fleece pattern best. The bag for Christmas EVE is cut a bit larger.

Print the number tags (see below), laminate if desired, cut them out and punch a hole in the tags.

Stitch a zig-zag along the top long side to protect it from fraying.

Fold the fleece in half to as shown above.

Fold the ribbon in half and slide it between the layers with the fold on the inside of the bag. Secure with a needle.

Stitch along the side and then the bottom closing the bag. Turn the bag inside out.

Fill the bag with something sweet and tie it close.

Place the bags in a Santa stocking or basket.

Print the numbers on a heavier paper or make your own tags if desired. Laminate for durability.
