paperwhite (Narcissus papyraceus)

Paperwhites have a very delicate smell. They fill a room with a sweet scent.

Plant your paperwhite (Narcissus papyraceus) bulbs in a white container. Cover the dirt with fake snow. Water carefully as the snow may run out of the pot. When some dirt becomes visible just add some more snow.

Once the paperwhites are in bloom they can be cut and places in a tall vase.

All indoor narcissi, also known as paperwhites, may be shipped to you from September through February. Blooming in three to five weeks, you may plant these bulbs in soil or in pebbles with water at staggered intervals for delicately-scented flowers throughout the winter.

It is also great fun for children to plant paperwhites and to watch them grow. Have them pot the paperwhites in glass, water-tight containers with pebbles and water so that they can watch the roots grow prior to the development of the stems and lovely flowers.

Each bulb produces several, flower-bearing stems. Please make sure to keep them adequately watered throughout the duration of their bloom so that the roots do not run the risk of drying out.

Narcissus care

Put the paperwhite narcissus in a bright location, avoiding direct hot sunlight. Water thoroughly, allowing the soil to become slightly dry to the touch between water applications. Do not let stand in excess water. Cooler locations will extend flower life. Pinch off flower stems after flowering, plant in garden for repeat flowering next year.
