Foodie Gifts

Eatable gifts are always welcome at our house. It’s so much better than something nobody will ever use, because it’s just something. The common presents are often a bottle of wine or chocolates from a large producer. If you know a person really well, and they do enjoy wine, a good bottle is for sure a welcome present.

Christmas tree, Christmas bauble, purple bow

If you choose a gift for a person you know, the selection should be fairly easy. Here’s a selection of items we never say no to: tea leaves, coffee beans, local honey, marmalade from the farmers market, homemade cookies,  artisan chocolate, salt flakes, handmade pasta, a special cheese…

Last October our little Swiss family came to visit. We stayed in Vancouver which allowed us to eat mostly at our place. We did however one evening go the the Indian in the neighborhood. Everybody enjoyed the meal, it’s really hard to not like their sauces with the rich aromas of spices and a bite of naan bread. Therefore we sent my brothers with family Klaus’ butter chicken recipe, a bag of fenugreek leaves, and a can of
tandoori masala spice mix. It’s a very simple present, but it will bring back memories every time they cook butter chicken.

Our culinary presents are wrapped in brown sandwich bags. They are adorned with a pretty ribbon, tiny cloth pins, Christmas tags, and a couple of mini Christmas baubles. It’s very fitting.
