Recipe

Beat one egg per person with a bit of milk or cream in a shallow bowl. If desired add some orange zest or vanilla essence. Cut day-old white bread into 3/4″ slices and dunk into batter. Heat a frying pan with some butter, and fry bread slices until golden brown. Serve with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and maple syrup. Enjoy!

Coal Harbour in Vancouver on a cold winter day feels hushed and luminous, as if the city has paused to breathe. The air is crisp and clean, carrying the faint scent of saltwater, while the mountains rise in the distance, their peaks dusted with fresh snow. The harbour lies calm and steel-blue, reflecting pale winter light and the glassy silhouettes of downtown towers.

Seaplanes rest quietly at the docks, their floats barely rippling the water, and the seawall invites slow, thoughtful walks bundled in scarves and coats. Bare branches trace delicate lines against the sky, and the cold sharpens every sound—the soft lap of waves, the distant call of gulls, the muted hum of the city beyond. It is a place where winter feels gentle rather than harsh, blending urban elegance with coastal stillness.
