Oft people ask me, again and yet again,
Why I always utter a strange and short refrain,
"When I die, I'm going to Christmas", I say with some glee
For heaven and Christmas, well you see, they're the same to me
All the angels in heaven, no matter how loud their song,
Could not keep me from asking for a carol before too long,
And though in God's embrace, though glorious it be,
I just know it would be better with a twinkling Christmas Tree
And Jesus has a chuckle when I shake him by the hand,
And ask if he will join me in a festive Yule-tide stand,
To change the perfect weather and the temperature just so
So me and all my loved ones can frolic in the snow
And souls from every faith come and pat me on the back,
And thank me with their tears, though the words some might lack,
For the miracle feast I asked for with some brotherly love and steel
A Kosher, Halal, and Vegetarian Christmas Day roast meal
And good ole Saint Nick, the original one of course,
So modest and unassuming, though Santa's saintly source,
Joins in eating pies, and some eggnog, and some beers
And cheekily shouts a HO HO HO, to a trillion billion cheers
So dear friends if we may meet some earthly December day,
At least I've had a chance to have my cheeky say,
For me the afterlife that is most worthily called bliss
Is the ringing spirit of sharing, known as our Christmas!
