Gifts from the Grocery Store

It's not always easy to find an original present for a friend or a work colleague. Many of us then resort to the obligatory bottle of wine. But there are alternatives.

At high-end grocery stores the shelves are packed with culinary delights from all over the world. Exquisite chocolates in luxury tins, Panettone for the lover of Italian foods or for somebody like me simply jelly fruit.

The possibilities are endless to find a gift for people with a sweet tooth. Just the chocolate aisles alone should have something to please any chocolate snob. The chocolate seen on the above image was given to us by a friend. What made the gift so extra special was that the wrapping matched the packaging.

Since 2007 Evian sells each year a bottle of water designed by a fashion designer. It's an affordable and unexpected gift. The bottle can later be used as a vase.

If you are looking for a small gift for a person that loves to cook, a potted herb may just be perfect. Should the budget be larger, then a high quality olive oil and an exquisite bottle of vinegar may be added. Or maybe a bag of fresh pasta and a card with a handwritten pasta recipe.
