Click here for your favorite eBay items.

I discovered eBay years ago and have purchased many things over that website. I love to browse through my favorite categories about once a week just to see what's on the auction block. There is no doubt, probably in anybodies mind, that a lot of the items offered have yard sale quality. But nevertheless, when you dig deep enough you will find treasures. Of course most of the time a whole bunch of other people made the same discovery too. Also one has to watch out in order not to pay too much for an item. It is advisable to do some research before biding on an item. And also set yourself a limit on the price! It can get very hectic in the final minutes of an auction.

And don't forget, you can also sell your own stuff. Have an electronic yard sale!

Before you place a bid:

  • Ask yourself: Do I really need this item?

  • Set yourself a budget. This is very important in case you are bidding in a foreign currency.

  • In case you are not familiar with the prices of the item you are bidding on, do some research.

  • Try to find certain items during off season. Christmas items for example are available year round, but during the summer less people bid on them.

  • If possible, place your bid towards the end of the auction.

  • If the price looks too good to be true, especially with jewelry, it probably is.

  • Open a PayPal account for easy payment transactions. It also saves you money by not having to mail a cheque or money order for the items you bought.
