Nut Macrons (Nusshäufchen)

My wife made these for her friends every Christmas. She passed away from Cancer on the 10th of May, 2000. I converted all her cake and cookie recipes to send out in her memory. - John Reynolds, Grand Prairie, TX

Ingredients

3 big egg whites
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup sugar
2 cups ground pecans
3 tablespoons flour

Preparation

Beat egg whites, add cream of tartar, untill they are stiff. Beat in sugar and at last minute add the flour. Fold in ground pecans and place by the tablespoon on a greased cookie sheet, place a pecan half on top and bake for 13 to 15 minutes. We use the cookie sheet that is double and has an air pocket in between. Let cool for one minute and remove from pan. The cookies bake much more even.
