Christmas Decorating
|
Ornaments can be hung different ways. The example you see on this page will always leave a great impression behind. The glass balls and ornaments are clustered together like grapes. Hang the ornaments with wire in order to have the flexibility to decide how far away from the branches they will hang. The big glass balls hang on the bottom of the cluster and the smallest goes on top (see illustration). While you keep yourself busy hanging all the decorations don't forget to take a few steps back once in a while to check if the tree looks balanced. The tree should also look finished from every point of view. What you see here is what I was taught - among many other things - by Mrs. Gasteyger. She was the directrice at the Hotel International in Basel Switzerland for many years (today it's the Radisson SAS Hotel Basel). At the International we had four big Christmas trees throughout the hotel. Decorating them with my co-worker Mrs. Wenger was always the most beautiful day of the year. Bows add a lot of drama to a tree. Don't be shy to make them big. The best material to use to make nice bows is acetate ribbon 6 cm in width. It comes in a variety of colors and is very affordable. Such bows look nice for about three years and then they will have to be replaced. The two illustrations show how they are made.
