Christmas tree

On a picture like this, one clearly sees what we mean with "the magic of Christmas". This photograph was taken at Conrad's home on Christmas of 1999.

Decorating

Depending on how many lights and ornaments will go on the tree, decorating it can take anywhere from one to six hours. Put the tree up in its place, assemble all the boxes with the material you need, play some Christmas music, and pour yourself a glass of wine. Now you can start to work on the centerpiece of holiday decorations.

Once the lighting has been taken care of, the fun starts. Now it is time to drape the garlands and hang all the ornaments that you have collected over the years. It will bring you back to Christmases past and places you have lived. The best time of the day to decorate the tree is in the evening. It brings out the entire magic of the tree with its twinkling ornaments.

The Christmas tree - which was twice as tall as Father - was covered with gold and silver apples… and nestled in the hollows of the spreading branches sat hundreds of tiny candles that twinkled like stars, showing off the candy blossoms and fruit with a warm, flickering glow.

E.T.A. Hoffmann
