Cover up

It is always a good idea to cover the floor (no matter if hardwood, natural stone or carpet) with a large piece of plastic in order to protect it from scratches and stains. If you don't use a tree skirt, cover the plastic with a subtle colored piece of fabric.

Lighting the tree

The purpose of lighting the Christmas tree is to make your ornaments shine. Although the light should not overpower the sparkle of the glass ornaments and the glitter of these treasured collectibles.

The amount of lights needed for your tree will depend on the density of a tree and the height. A Christmas tree standing in a hotel lobby can use more lights than a tree standing in a living room.

Once the Christmas tree is secure in its place it's time to put up the lights. If you use electrical and candles, the electrical lights should go up first. I start stringing the cord around the tree branches from the bottom to the top. Plug the Christmas lights in so you can see if they are going up nice and even. Do not just wrap the cables around the outside of the tree branches. It gives the tree more sparkle when it is lit from the inside as well.
