Outdoor Lighting

The invention of "Icicle Lights" caused an outdoor lighting frenzy. Lights are very affordable and it shows. During the winter - and unfortunately on many houses year round - Vancouverites spruce up their property with this invention which started to flood the stores a couple of years ago. As we now can experience, the inventors did not stop there. We got introduced to the "Wrap a Bush" lights (netting), tube lighting and many other things. And then there is the large variety of plastic illuminated figures, Santas and reindeer one can get to decorate the yard.

I think the best advice one can give is: keep it simple and basic. The photograph above was taken by Allen Householder last winter in the middle of a snowstorm in Pennsylvania. Beautiful!

Installing Your Lights

The following idea was found on a web log.

Fill a cake form with snow, press it in really hard. Then dip the form quickly into a bucket filled with hot water, turn the cake form, and place your snow cake on the ground. Put a tea candle in each cake, illuminate, and you end up with a fairyland bakery.
