Wendt & Kühn angelDisplaying Collections

In this article you find ideas on how to best showcase a precious collection. Collections can be valuable possessions and for many of us dear to our hearts. Therefore one should care about the items enough to not place them into harms way.

Keep it in the family

Display the same kind of figurines or items together and place other decorative things somewhere else. The same goes for items that may be the same but are of a different scale.

Group your items

Small items especially get lost when they are placed too far apart. It also loses the impact a collection can have as the objects are not being noticed.

Singles

Items of a certain size are best displayed by itself. Therefore clear a small side table to show off a very special piece.

Look how much I have!

One does not have to display the entire Christmas decoration every year. Be selective and only chose a few beautiful items and give them a special place.

Classy

To achieve a more sophisticated look stay away from plastic. Plastic will always look cheap no matter what unless it is a vintage collection.

Keep it out of harms way

Work surfaces cluttered with cute little Christmas figures will not help reducing your stress level during the season. Chose one if you can not live without. Display the rest of your treasures in places where they do not interfere with your daily tasks.

Good places to display a collection are side tables, side boards, window sills, fireplace mantle. Stay away from any work surface, dining table, cluttered bookcase, and TV.

Sunlight

Most items need to be protected from sunlight.
