Pomander

pomander

This is a very simple way to get some Christmas aroma into your home. All you need to decorate an orange as seen on the left is: one orange, whole cloves and a tea light.

What you need for the tree: oranges, cloves, toothpick to poke a whole, and patience.

Oranges such as the one shown fill any room with a festive winter aroma ant they look very beautiful. Pomanders have been used since medieval times.

spice bags

The spice bag on the very right has been made by seven year old Francisca Finnern. She filled it with lavender. This is a great project for children. They can give the bags as Christmas gifts to their grandparents or godparents.

The Scent of Christmas

The red pillow is approximately 5 by 5 inches; 12 by 12 cm in size. It's made out of velvet and has a small tassel on the front. It contains small cinnamon sticks, dried orange peel, cloves, coriander, an aroma tea bag (i.e. apple and cinnamon) and synthetic stuffing material.

Make sure to store the pillows and bags in an airtight container during the summer and it will preserve the aroma for next year's Christmas time.

The little spice bags (approximately 2 3/4 by 4 inches; 7 by 10 cm), stuffed with aromatic spices, can be hung on the Christmas tree as decoration and aroma enhancers.

Sheer bags are now available in many colors and sizes. They are very inexpensive.
